What are the consequences of flat foot?

All though flat foot is not amongst the most serious diseases, it still causes serious problems not only for those who suffer from it but their parents, gym teachers and doctors who are involved.

Careless posture
Since the arch of the sole does not develop correctly, the distribution of weight also changes. The normal balance of the body will shift because our system is adopting to the change. This will then lead to hunched back, protruding abdomen and concaved chest.

Weak, fragile disposition
In the other third of the cases the lack of physical activity causes other muscles from not developing and the child's body will be underdeveloped.

Spinal disorders
Flat foot after a while can lead to serious spinal disorders.

Joint problems
Because of the flat foot the ankle, knee and hip joints are put under increased strain. The direction of joint movement changes morbidly and can lead to wear and tear before time. The weak joint can lead to frequent sprain and even fractures.

Morbid obesity
Each step is painful and full of problems and thus the obese child will not like exercising at all. People with flat foot find pleasure in eating and so gain even more weight in the process. Since gaining weight happens during developmental years it will frankly become permanent and very hard to get rid of.

Bad digestion
Shifting of the balance causes the gastrointestinal tract to move which leads to bad digestion and frequent constipation.

Disorders of the foot:
Great toe: sinking of the arch leads to the lengthening of the great toe with deformity. That leads to a painful condition that may need operation to remove the callus.
Hammer toe: the second toe deforms in order to fit in the shoe as well, causing this disorder.
Calluses: people with flat foot are predisposed to use only certain parts of their sole for walking to avoid obvious pain. That leads to the development of painful calluses.

Healthy spinal column
The vertebrae and their surrounding muscles will work together in harmony. The powerful spine will lay foundation to a complete and healthy body.

Strong joints
The strong joints of the ankles, knees waist and hips will provide a solid background to every movement, sport. Joint wear and tear will not develop even after years of use and the chances for sprains and fractures also diminishes.

Excellent digestion
